Increase in Dopamine can attribute to more activeness and more alertness. This neurotransmitter is produced by the Hypothalamus of the brain. As this Dopamine neurotransmitter is being produced, the reuptake of the Dopamine neurotransmitter is inhibited. This creates a pool of Dopamine to be formed in the vicinity of the reuptake. The excess levels of Dopamine are later used by the body for its daily purposes. Other hormones like Serotonin, Histamine and Norepinephrine are also acted upon and are increased in levels.

  • The smart drug Artvigil is also classified as a wakefulness promoter. The activation of Orexin peptide and the increase of Dopamine neurotransmitter aid in this regard.
